Project information 

  1. Name of project:   “WAADA”(Women in Action for Agriculture Development and   

                                           Social Advancement)

  1. Brief introduction project:  WAADA project run by Bihar water development society, Patna, implemented in 16 villages of Roh block in Nawada district. The project Program is designed to involve women farmers from Scheduled Castes, Other backward castes, minorities, etc. Also, Program aims to minimize the livelihood loss of the poor households due to Covid pandemic in target villages. So, keeping in mind the poor socio-economic background along with vulnerability from Covid pandemic situation, BWDS has selected following criteria for beneficiary selection: 
  • Scheduled Castes and other disadvantage community
  • Small/ Marginal/Sharecropper women Farmers
  • Lower income Farmers (BPL / APL Classes) 
  • Migrated Families or families affected with Covid pandemic
  • 20-60 Years of age

BWDS and target community involved in selection process. Moreover, key leaders of local SHGs/JEEVIKA groups, Panchayat members as key stakeholders also included for having wider social base and transparency towards program implementation and sustainable impact.

1. Small marginal and sharecropping women farmers have increased agricultural productivity with adaptation of Scientific climate-change resilient agriculture practices with Safety of Covid appropriate Behaviour. 

2. Women farmers are organized as FPOs (Farmers Producer Organizations) and are linked with Government Extension services and have fair access to benefits of development schemes.

3.  Increased social status of women with increased participation in decision making in family and society

  • Formation and strengthening of 16 women producer group (WPG)
  • Establishment and cultivation of 16 Demo plot (DP)
  • Procurement and distribution of quality seed variety for WPG farmers
  • Increase knowledge of Farmers on agronomic package of practice and post harvest management 
  • Sensitization meeting /campaign on Nutrition, Fortified seed, food security & Government Schemes.

  1. Project period: November 2022 to October 2023
  2. Achievement:    
    • Formed and strengthening of 16 women producer group (WPG) in 16 villages
    • Established 16 DEMO plots in 16 villages 
    • 99 WPG framers were trained on agronomic package of practice and post harvest management (Rabi season)
    • Project staff were trained on project concept and program implementation  
    • 96 WPG farmers were trained on Post harvest management /storage of Produced and seed with value addition and marketing  
    • Conducted 16 batch awareness and sensitization meeting campaign on Nutrition, sanitation, Fortified seed, Food security and different govt. schemes 
  • Small and Marginal women farmers getting aware on  Scientific Agriculture System
  • Gradually increasing understanding on practice of Scientific Agriculture System.
  • Women farmer’s members are getting some government Schemes Benefits.
