As we reflect on the past year, I’m excited to present the Bihar Water Development Society (BWDS) Annual Report for 2022-2023. This year has brought significant changes, emphasizing environmental sustainability and climate resilience as critical priorities.
In a world facing the growing challenges of climate change, 2023’s designation as the International Year of Millets highlights a global shift towards sustainable solutions. Millets, known for their climate adaptability and low water needs, represent a key step in addressing global food security. BWDS has embraced this shift, focusing on reducing our carbon footprint, adopting eco-friendly practices, and promoting policies that prioritize environmental preservation.
Throughout 2022-2023, BWDS led initiatives to support education, healthcare, women’s and children’s rights, livelihoods, flood relief, and disaster risk reduction. Key projects included Humari Pathshala, Asha skill development, the Global Program, Combating Child Labor and Human Trafficking, Saksham Agriculture Livelihood Enhancement, Mahila Unnati, and Integrated Risk Management DRR.
Our commitment extended beyond individual projects, encompassing flood relief efforts, social welfare initiatives, and essential conferences and awareness programs. The dedication of the BWDS team fills me with immense pride, but we recognize that much work remains.
I express my sincere gratitude to our donors – MISEREOR, MANOS UNIDAS, CRS, CARITAS INDIA, KINDERMISSIONSWERK, and ASHA ERIKA – for their unwavering support. Together, we can build a more sustainable, inclusive, and equitable world. Thank you for being a crucial part of our journey.
