BIHAR WATER DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY

Most Rev. Archbishop Sebastian Kallupura

On this gracious occasion of starting the Website of Bihar Water Development Society, I extend my hearty congratulations and felicitations to all those who are part of this noble venture which has made such a sustained and solid contribution to the transformation of rural Bihar in India.

The expansion and growth of BWDS over the years are praiseworthy, indeed. Our creative way of empowering the poor through Community-Based Organizations by increasing their accessibility to crucial resources, starting from their “own self'” to economic, social, and political resources, is commendable. Another area that is of great relevance today is our interventions leading to the enhancement of the “space” of socio-political power of the community through our various programs.

Through various activities, BWDS continues to realize the dream of the society in which human dignity is respected, diversity in religion, culture, and language are accepted and appreciated, and the poor and needy can demand a life of dignity and justice. It is evident that the activities for the empowerment of women are clearly based on a belief in women’s public and political participation as well as their ability to step into the economic system. Addressing the various crucial issues that affect women and girls are paving the way to a more egalitarian society marked by harmony and sustainable growth.

May God continue to bless the untiring efforts of all who are associated with the BWDS endeavours, especially Fr. Dinesh Kumar, Director, BWDS, and its entire committed staff, well-wishers, benefactors, and the people whom we are privileged to serve, so that all may have life to the full.
